I came to American Financial Solutions seeking help to deal with the growing credit card debt. The first consultation was informative, but the solutions seemed too general, and they did not seem to have a solution that catered to my specific need. The counselor seemed to be in a hurry and was not responsive to all my concerns. After a few months, there wasn't much progress, and the fees I paid outweighed the benefits. I was seeking more aggressive action or negotiation with creditors, but it seemed as if all the work was on my part. While the staff was courteous, I do not feel that this service would be good for someone to look for tailored specific financial advice.

Unclear Expectations

Their website looked great, but I was really underwhelmed. My experience on trying to create a debt management plan was quite confusing. While I could not get a clear answer about what effort and duration it would take from my end, communication was irregular, and I had to seek repeat follow-ups. Furthermore, the interest reductions that were being portrayed as highly appreciable during the consultation were indeed very minimal. I ended up leaving the program after six months because it did not feel like it was assisting in creating forward motion.

Not What I Expected

I went into American Financial Solutions with high hopes and expectations of getting my finances back on track. Unfortunately, the program did not live up to my expectations. While consolidating debts was helpful, the monthly payment was still a bit higher than what I expected. Besides that, they failed to clearly explain how this deal impacts my credit score, which just took a big hit. They were friendly but seemed overwhelmed, so getting timely answers on my questions was a real challenge. It works for some people, but it was not for me.

I was disappointed that their team did not communicate well with my needs. You are supposed to be serviced right after your commitment in a debt management plan, but with this one, I did not experience the regular reporting and clear direction as expected. All my debts were not covered under the plan, and most of the time, I was left in the dark about the progress of the case. When I needed further support, reaching out to someone helpful was a challenge; hence, all my time and money went wasted.
